Is it morning yet?
Before I begin I want to just mention the victims of today's school shooting down in South Florida. There have been 18 school shootings in the last 45 days here in the US, and I still cannot believe that this is happening. You'd think after Sandy Hook something would have been doing to stop this type of atrocity, but no. The NRA and other gun lobbyists have our government in their back pockets, so any type of legislation that could stop this from happening again gets trashed, and more innocent children have to die because of it. Today's shooting happened in South Florida. This tragedy didn't just hit close to home, it did hit home. And now students and teachers in my South Florida are going to bed tonight scared that they may no longer be safe at school, or worse, going to bed knowing that a loved one will never come home. This needs to stop.
My heart is breaking for the victims and their families. This needs to stop.
Ok back to the lightheartedness that is the mess of my blog.
I really need to start reminding myself to do these posts at the beginning of the day rather than right at the end. I was about to crawl into be for the night when I remembered I hadn't made today's post.
Now I had the day off and completed about 50% of that to-do list from yesterday, so I had more than enough time to sit down and pound this entry out, but for some reason, I chose not to, and now instead of falling asleep, I'm writing.
Which brings me to today's post:
Day 14: Your ideal morning routine.
Now before I get into what I would love to happen, the reality is that I can get maybe most of this to actually happen, it's just a matter of discipline, and just doing it. So we'll see how this planning part goes and who knows, maybe I'll start doing this ideal morning routine.
This all begins with a decent night's sleep, meaning going to bed before 11PM. The earlier I go to sleep, the earlier I can get up to get started on my day. This also all depends on what time I have to go to work if I am not off that day.
So after waking up, I would probably go use the bathroom, wash my face, and then have myself a glass of orange juice to start.
Now, these are things I already do (minus the washing of the face, but I should really start taking care of my skin).
Then I would follow that with some morning yoga.
Now I don't really do yoga unless I'm stretching out my hip flexors (which are always crazy tight) and maybe stretching out in general because I feel horrible. But I should start practicing seriously. I'm not getting any younger and things are starting to hurt. I'll need to do some research and find myself a good program to follow for a nice morning routine.
Afterwards, I would shower and get dressed and then have a decent breakfast.
Usually, the order of my shower and breakfast isn't set, but I should probably start to do it in this order. And I do always take a shower in the morning because that's the only way for me to do my hair for the day. Plus feeling clean makes me feel like I can take on the world.
My breakfast, I'm gonna have to start eating better. Incorporating more protein and fruits into the meal because right now its just carbs and sugar and that probably explains why I'm hungry before lunch.
And then if there is anytime before going to work I can write a quick post here, do some bills and make the bed.
Actually, you know what? This sounds very doable.
Just gotta research that yoga and actually plan out my breakfast. If I'm making my breakfast after my shower, I'll be awake enough to cook something rather than stumble my way through a bowl of Lucky Charms. And considering how my schedule is set 3 weeks in advance, I can easily plan out these mornings.
It's just a matter of going to be early and getting good night's sleep. Hey, I really think I could do this!
Gimme a few weeks as I slowly gather that intel and start making small changes to my routine (or lack of) and this might become a reality.
I'm suddenly very excited for this. YAY!
