Cha-ching

Day 22: A good thing from today.

Remember when I was complaining that I'm too reliable? Yep, I was reliable again today.

The same coworker who called out on Tuesday called out today, so instead of going home at 3pm, I stuck around until 5pm. I spent over 9 hours in the store today. I haven't done that since I was working for The Gap. I forgot how tiring it can be, but the store needed the support and I need the paycheck, so that is my good thing from today. A bigger paycheck.

Another good thing you can count from today is we finished our flip of climbing and travel. For those not familiar with these fancy visual/retail terms, we basically moved the climbing department to travel and placed travel where climbing was. It's not as easy as it sounds as we also had to remerchandise both departments. But overall we were pretty successful, and this morning we put the finishing touches on some of the bigger displays. We still have a few more details to assess, but overall I'm happy with the work done.

Well, that's that. I wanted to knock that part out of the way before I start talking about my day. I did stay at the store for longer than normal, and my paycheck will look pretty fancy in two weeks. This week was a holiday week, meaning that I will receive holiday pay for President's Day (either 6 or 8 hours depending on how many hours I worked), I will receive time and a half for working on President's Day, and I'm using my Yay Day this week (that's when the company gives you 6 hours to go play outside!), add in the two extra shifts (longer?) I worked, and yeah, we're looking at 40+ hours and I am stoked for that.

Tomorrow I'm meeting a coworker/friend for a run in the morning, I'm hoping his wife can make it too (they're both awesome people). And afterward, I'm going out with my dad for my Yay Day (well the morning run counts too). And then in the evening another coworker/friend is having their birthday party.

So after a long week of surprised and extra work, tomorrow is just what I need, and then I plan to do nothing on Saturday.
