This will be my third winter in North Carolina, and yes I can assure you that I do miss the beautiful warm Miami winters. I am not a fan of being cold, or of wearing so many layers. But this is where I live now, and I'm just going to suck it up and deal with it.
We're currently under a "Winter Storm Warning" which in a way reminds me of the tropical storm warnings back in Miami. Sometimes nothing would happen, other times the tropical storms were as bad as fully formed hurricanes. Here's hoping we just have a little snow that melts away fast. Why? I don't want to miss work, and I don't want to shovel the snow.
Then again, I did get new snow boots, so I do kind of want to test them. The question is, should I have bought ice cleats?
Remind come summer, when I start to complain lightly about the heat that I was freezing in January.
Nothing much else happened today. Went to work, did some inventory prep, and then went home and read a bit.
I make a pledge every year to read at least 25 books. Some reason I exceed that goal, and some years I don't even make it to 15. Last year was a year where I didn't meet my aim, that's mostly due to the changes (school, work, life), but I hope this year I can fix that. I'm already on my third and fourth books for the year. Yep, reading two at a time! Luckily one is a fantasy novel while the other is a detective story, so it's very hard to get them confused.
I have a thing for detective novels and police procedurals. I'm sure in another life I must have been a detective or a mystery writer. I love the thrill of a good mystery, though I'm sure if put up to the challenge now, I would end up with a killer on the loose.
Or maybe I just want to be Kate Beckett. Yeah, we'll go with that.
I'm about 150 words from my goal, but I'm not sure what else to write about other than the usual "I'm cold and tired, snowmageddon" so I guess I'll just leave it on this note.
It's going to snow, and per the usual, the city is gettinSnowmageddon. We usually get a few inches of snow, nothing too crazy except for when it freezes into ice. I live in walking distance of work, but my boss made mention that I could stay home since I am not comfortable driving in the snow/ice. So the question is, if it does snow as much as everyone is overreacting about, do I go into work? Or do I play it safe and stay home? Only time will tell, and I'll keep this blog updated.
